  19.    WHAT IT DOES
  20.    ------------
  21.    Basically VertiSet allows you to toggle the vertical frequency (hertz)   
  22.    on your color monitor, before and after running a program from the
  23.    desktop, or before running a program at bootup.
  24.  
  25.    WHERE TO KEEP IT
  26.    ----------------
  27.    VertiSet can be kept anywhere. If you keep it in your AUTO folder it
  28.    can be activated AT BOOTUP by holding down either a [SHIFT] , [CONTROL]
  29.    or [ALTERNATE] key. If you DON'T hold down one of these keys, VertiSet
  30.    will be bypassed AT BOOTUP.

  32.    You can also run VertiSet from the desktop (and still keep it in your
  33.    AUTO folder). VertiSet knows the difference and will run the appropriate
  34.    part of the program.

  36.    AT BOOTUP
  37.    ---------
  38.    VertiSet will prompt you for your choice. Entering anything other than
  39.    the menu choices will cause VertiSet to end without making ANY changes.

  41.    FROM THE DESKTOP
  42.    ----------------
  43.    Run VertiSet. Click on the SELECT button to fileselect a program to run.
  44.    The programs name will appear in the "menu bar". Select the frequency
  45.    at which you wish the program to run (50 or 60). Select the frequency
  46.    the screen should be returned to after the program ends (50 or 60).
  47.    Click on the RUN button to run the SELECTED program at the SELECTED
  48.    frequency. When the program ends the screen will be returned to the
  49.    second SELECTED frequency.

  53.    Click on the box in the upper left hand corner of the panel to quit.

  55.    VERTICAL FREQUENCY FOR GAME
  56.    ---------------------------
  57.    When you select "RUN", VertiSet will set the vertical frequency to
  58.    whichever of these frequencies you have selected, 50 or 60 . 60 hertz   
  59.    is the U.S. and Canadian standard. 50 hertz is the U.K. and European
  60.    standard. 50 hertz allows you to run most European programs without
  61.    that persistent "flicker" which is present when run at the wrong
  62.    frequency.

  64.    FREQUENCY AFTER GAME ENDS
  65.    -------------------------
  66.    This option allows you to return to the frequency intended for your
  67.    machine (if necessary) after the program has ended (and keeps you from
  68.    having to "reboot" to reset it).

  72.    Allows you to select the program to run.

  76.    Runs the selected program.

  78.    EXAMPLE
  79.    -------
  80.    Say you live in the U.S. and get a European game that requires a screen
  81.    frequency of 50 hertz. Set the vertical frequency for the program (game)
  82.    to 50 hertz. Set the vertical frequency for when the game ends to 60 Hz.
  83.    Select run. VertiSet will set your screen to 50 Hz. and run the program.
  84.    When the program ends, VertiSet will set your screen to 60 Hz.

  86.    COLORS

  88.    VertiSet will reset your computers colors to those which were set before
  89.    you ran the program.

  92.    THAT'S ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW...

  95.    OTHER STUFF

  97.    VertiSet will NOT be able to change the vertical frequency of a program
  98.    which changes it itself (since the program is running AFTER VertiSet).

  100.    Memory is, of course, a consideration. While VertiSet IS mindful of this,
  101.    some programs require HUGE amounts of memory and may not have enough if   
  102.    VertiSet is in use.

  104.    VertiSet will NOT run in monochrome.

  106.    VertiSet will NOT return your screen to a predefined frequency if run
  107.    at bootup (since you're not returning to VertiSet).
